Missing Elderly Man Found Dead in Mosque Washroom

Srinagar: A middle-aged man, who was missing for a day, was found dead inside the washroom of a mosque in Sheribhat area of Zadibal in Srinagar on Saturday.

Police officials who identified the deceased as Abdul Qayoom Khan son of late Abdul Rehman of Gilli Kadal Zoonimar said that the elderly man was missing for the last one day.

“The family of the deceased lodged a missing report after which we started searches. However on Saturday morning when people gathered at the mosque to offer Fajr prayers, they heard a mobile continuously buzzing inside the mosque washroom. People present approached and knocked at the door but when there was no response they opened the door only to find a man lying dead”, police said.

A case under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Zadibal and further proceedings taken up, police added.
