Covid-19 Claims 3 More Lives In J&K

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir reported three more coronavirus deaths on Wednesday, while 126 fresh cases of Covid-19 were detected across the Union Territory in the last 24 hours.

All the three victims belonged to Kashmir Valley—a 60-year-old man from Ganderbal, a 75-year-old man from Anantnag and a 50-year-old man from Handwara in Kupwara district, officials said.

With these deaths, the total fatality count reached 1194 in the Valley while 706 have succumbed to the virus in Jammu region.

Srinagar district with 450 deaths tops the list followed by Jammu (361), Baramulla (172), Budgam (110), Kupwara (93), Pulwama (88), Anantnag (84), Doda (64), Bandipora (60), Udhampur (57), Kulgam (53), Rajouri (54), Kathua (49), Ganderbal (45), Shopian (39), Samba (39), Poonch (24), Ramban (21), Kishtwar(22), and Reasi (15).

Meanwhile, 126 new cases of coronavirus were reported from J&K in the last 24 hours.

According to officials, 73 of the new cases were reported from Jammu division and 53 from Kashmir Valley, taking the total number of people infected by the virus in UT to 122049.

Moreover, the officials said, 264 more patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 144 from Jammu division and 120 from Kashmir division.
