Srinagar– Two militants were killed in an encounter in Kreeri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday, police said.
State forces launched a cordon and search operation in Wanigam Payeen in Kreeri area of district this morning following information about the presence of militants in the area, a police official said.
He said the search operation turned into an encounter after the militants fired at the forces, who retaliated.
In the exchange of fire, two militants were killed, the official said.
He said the identity and group affiliation of the slain militants was being ascertained.
The search operation is still going on, he added.
