Srinagar: Three more people died of coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday while 250 fresh cases of Covid-19, including 2 minors were detected in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
Two of the victims, officials said, were residents of Kashmir Valley and one from the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir. Among those who succumbed included— a 76-year-old man from Kupwara, a 55-year-old man from Bandipora besides one from Jammu division—a 70-year-old woman from Akhnoor.
With these deaths, the total fatality count in J&K reached 1853—1171 in the Valley and 682 in the Jammu region.
Srinagar district with 443 deaths tops the list followed by Jammu (347), Baramulla (170), Budgam (106), Kupwara (90), Pulwama (88), Anantnag (82), Doda (61), Bandipora (59), Udhampur (57), Kulgam (53), Rajouri (54), Kathua (48), Ganderbal (43), Shopian (37), Samba (37), Poonch (22), Ramban (21), Kishtwar(21), and Reasi (14).
Meanwhile, the Union Territory reported 250 new cases, including fourteen travellers and two minors, taking the total number of virus infected people to 119053.
While 135 fresh cases were reported from Jammu division, the remaining 115 were confirmed by officials from Kashmir Valley.
Giving district wise details, the officials said that Srinagar reported 49 cases, Baramulla 14, Budgam 17, Kupwara 7, Pulwama 13, Anantnag 1, Bandipora 3, Ganderbal 6, Kulgam 2, Shopian 3, Jammu 98, Udhampur 8, Rajouri 10, Doda 5, Kathua 3, Kishtwar 1, Samba 5, Poonch 0, Ramban 5and Reasi 0. These cases take the overall number of people infected with the virus to 119053.
A number of cases were confirmed at SKIMS Soura, CD hospital and GMC Anantnag and include one CRPF, one army soldier besides two minors.
Moreover, they said, 338 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals— 139 from Jammu Division and 199 from Kashmir Valley. (With GNS inputs)
