Srinagar: Two policemen have been booked for demanding extortion from a man, hailing from south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, reports said Monday.
Head Constable Ajaz Ahmed and Selection Grade Constable Bashir Ahmed were booked by police under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after a man from Pulwama district identified as Ghulam Jeelani accused them of extortion, news agency KNT reported Monday.
The complainant alleged that the two cops were demanding money from him on the one or another.
Quoting sources, the report said that taking cognizance of the complaint; both the cops were booked for extortion and a case FIR no 97/2020 under section 34, 380, 384, 420, 506 IPC was registered against them at the police station Kothi Bagh here.
The report also quoted an unnamed police officer as saying that the accused cops haven’t been arrested yet.
“The complainant is out of station and once he will be here, matter will be investigated,” the police officer added.
