Srinagar- A shikara carrying BJP workers capsized in Dal Lake during an election rally led by saffron party’s leaders including MoS Finance Anurag Thakur and party’s national general secretary Tarun Chugh.
Official sources said that the party had organised a boat rally in Dal lake and one of the boats carrying several workers capsized near Ghat no.17 adjacent to Chaar Chinari. However all were rescued immediately.
As a precautionary measure, those who fell in the water body were given medical attention.
The shikara rally was led by Union minister Anurag Thakur, who is the BJP’s in-charge for DDC elections in Jammu and Kashmir. BJP senior leaders Tarun Chug and Shahnawaz Hussain besides some local leaders including Sofi Yousuf and Altaf Thakur were also present in the rally.
