16 Security Men, Two Docs Among New 1249 Cases

Srinagar: At least twenty more people succumbed to coronavirus infection in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, taking the fatality count across the Union Territory to 1064.

While fifteen more people died of coronavirus in Jammu division, the remaining five succumbed to deadly infection in Kashmir valley, officials said.

Among the victims from Jammu include a 55-year-old Paloura Jammu, a 70-year-old from Gorkha Nagar, a 42-year-old from Akhnoor, an 82-year-old man from Flora Nagban and a 54-year-old from Jaggti Jammu.

Two among victims succumbed at SKIMS Soura including a 75-year-old woman from Baderwah who was admitted to the tertiary care hospital two days ago.

“The patient was diagnosed with hypertension, T2DM severe COVID pneumonia, and died due to cardiopulmonary arrest,” a doctor at the hospital said.

A 55-year-old woman from Ramban who was diagnosed with “Intestinal obstruction with severe COVID pneumonia” also died due to cardiopulmonary arrest, the doctor added.

Regarding the deaths from Valley, officials said, a 57-year-old man from Kupwara died at SMHS hospital, nine days after he was admitted.

They said an 82-year-old man from Chandpora Harwan died at SKIMS Bemina, one of the exclusive facilities for the management of the covid-19 patients.

They said an 82-year-old man from Peerbagh Srinagar died, seven days after he was admitted at a hospital here.

16 Security Men, Two Docs Among New 1249 Cases

Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir reported on Wednesday 1249 new cases of novel coronavirus, including 62 travelers, sixteen paramilitary men and two doctors, taking the total number of people infected by the virus in Union Territory to 67510.

Jammu division reported 646 new cases of Covid-19, while remaining 603 were confirmed by the officials from Kashmir valley.

Giving district-wise details, officials said Srinagar reported 199, Budgam 62, Baramulla 80, Pulwama 25, Anantnag 40, Bandipora 41, Kupwara 61, Ganderbal 74, Kulgam 13, Shopian 8, Jammu 230, Rajouri 88, Udhampur 48, Kathua 24, Doda 61, Samba 39, Poonch 58, Ramban 44, Reasi 14 and Kishtwar 40.

During the same, officials said that J&K had more than double recoveries as 2796 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals— 1578 from Jammu Division and 1218 from Kashmir.
