Soldier Injured In Pak Firing In Poonch

Poonch- A soldier was injured as Indian and Pakistani army exchanged fire in two sectors along Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu region on Thursday.

“At about 0645 hours, the Pakistan Army initiated ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and intense shelling with mortars along LoC in Balakote and Mendhar sectors,” a defence spokesman said, adding that the Indian Army  retaliated effectively.

Heavy exchange of fire was going on in these sectors, the sources said.

An Army soldier identified as Naik C B Pawar of 101 artillery regiment was injured in the shelling in Balakote sector and was hospitalised, they added.

On Tuesday, an Army soldier was killed and two others, including an officer, were injured in firing along the Line of Control in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district.
