Srinagar: Two more youth, including a student has gone missing from south Kashmir’s Pulwama district sparking fears of them of having joined militant ranks.
Mohsin Amin Bhat of Chursoo village of Awantipora has gone missing from August 29 and since then his whereabouts remain unknown, his father Mohammad Amin said Tuesday. He said after failing to find his son for three days, the family lodged a missing report on September 1 at the concerned police station.
Bhat, according to his father was pursuing his BA degree from Islamia College of Science and Commerce here in this capital city. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lockdown, Amin said his son used to stay home and would hardly venture out.
“He never took part in street protests and was never arrested,” Amin said, adding “My wife and two sons are under deeply worried about Mohsin’s safety,”
According to Amin, his wife was suffering from heart ailment while his another son was also not keeping well.
“We request everyone, every organization and agency to kindly return him back as his mother and brother are very ill,” Amin added.
Pertinently, four youth including a BUMS student from same village have joined militant ranks in last two months. Among them, one was killed and another was arrested during Shopian encounter last week.
Meanwhile, another youth identified as Khawar Sultan of Drangbal, Pampore, has also gone missing on September 02.
His father Mohammad Sultan said that Khawar was working as a labourer at a Poultry farm in Khrew-Shaar area of Pulwama and on September 02, he left home for Shaar but didn’t return.
“We called all relatives and his friends but failed to get any information about him, forcing us to lodge his missing report,” said Sultan.
A truck driver by profession, Sultan said that his son was working with him as a conductor after passing his class 12th examinations
“However after lockdown, he started working at a poultry farm,” said Sultan.
His family members including his parents, grandmother, two brothers and sister have requested him to return back.
Local news agency KNO reported that the duo seems to have joined militancy but official confirmation was awaited.
Quoting an unnamed senior police official, the report said that police have received missing complaints and were making efforts to trace the duo.
