Jammu: The members of Kashmiri Pandit community on Monday demanded more townships for the migrant families, besides retrieval of encroached properties and compensation for damaged properties in Kashmir.
The Kashmir Pandit community members living in Jagti Township here submitted a written memorandum, flagging various issues of importance to the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha during his visit on Monday, an official spokesperson said. They also flagged the issues of political reservation to KPs and demanded more townships for remaining families of migrants.
“The residents of Jagti Township apprised the Lt Governor about various welfare issues of Kashmir Pandit community including permanent rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits, enhancement of relief amount, financial package of KPs for facilitating entrepreneurship and business, compensation for damaged properties in Kashmir, retrieval of encroached properties in Kashmir etc,” the official spokesperson said.
The LG, he said while interacting with the people there, assured them that all the genuine issues and demands projected by them would be looked into meticulously for their early redressal.
“The Lt Governor observed that he would examine the issues raised by the people and assured them that instead of making hollow promises and announcements, he would genuinely and rationally try to address the problems being faced by the people,” the official spokesperson said.
“The UT Government is taking comprehensive measures to ensure prompt redressal of people’s grievances, besides improving public service delivery mechanism with progressively increasing citizens’ participation at all levels, through transparent and accountable governance,” LG Sinha, as per official spokesperson said.
The LG further said that to bring a new era of development in J&K, the present Government was working on the agenda of equitable and holistic development.
The LG was accompanied by Sanjeev Verma, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu; Mukesh Singh, IGP Jammu; Simrandeep Singh, Special Secretary to the Government, Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction; Sushma Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner Jammu; Shridhar Patil, SSP Jammu; T. K. Bhat, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner and other senior officers.
Meanwhile, LG Sinha also visited Raghunath, Ranbireshwar and Panjbakhtar Temples and took stock of the facilities being made available to the visiting devotees.
He paid obeisance there and prayed for peace, progress, and prosperity in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, an official spokesperson said.
The LG, he said also took a walk through the heritage Raghunath Market and Residency Road area where he interacted with locals, shopkeepers, officer bearers of Traders Associations including Raghunath Bazar Association and Kanak Mandi Association.
“He enquired about the difficulties being faced by the people and the business community due to COVID-19 pandemic, or otherwise,” the official spokesperson said.
“Terming people’s feedback as imperative for accountable and responsive administration, the LG urged the people to come forward with their issues and grievances and play an active role in the developmental process by providing regular feedback on the working of the Administration,” he added.
