55 Security Men Among 473 New Cases

Srinagar: Seven more people succumbed to coronavirus infection in Kashmir valley on Friday, taking the number of fatalities since the outbreak of pandemic in the Union territory to 450.

While Srinagar reported three new deaths, two each were reported from Anantnag and Baramulla districts, official sources said. A middle-aged pharmacist from Pulwama was also among the new deaths reported today.

Among the latest Covid-19 victims in Srinagar include a 60-year-old man from HMT who was admitted to hospital on August 3 and a 65-year-old woman from Dalgate, admitted on August 5 with “bilateral pneumonia, diabetes”.

The three deaths reported from SKIMS Soura include a 65-year-old woman from Sarnal and a 55-year-old man, a pharmacist by profession, from Chersoo area of Awantipora Pulwama who was admitted on July 31 and 46 Anantnag.

With these deaths, the overall tally has risen to 450 in J&K, 34 in Jammu and 416 in Kashmir.

Srinagar district with 147 deaths tops the list followed by Baramulla (77), Budgam (34), Anantnag (30), Kulgam (29), Pulwama (28), Shopian (24), Kupwara (22), Jammu (23), Bandipora (17), Ganderbal (7), two each in Rajouri, Doda and Udhampur besides one each in Ramban, Samba, Poonch, and Kathua. 55 Security Men Among 473 New Cases

Jammu and Kashmir on Friday reported 473 new cases of coronavirus, including 55 security personnel and 52 travelers thus taking the total number of people infected in the Union Territory to 23927.

While 345 new cases were reported from the Valley, the remaining 128 cases were confirmed Covid-19 positive by the officials in the Jammu province.

Among the cases reported from Valley include 36 men from CRPF, 11 from army, five from BSF and three from IRP.

Giving district wise breakup of the cases, official sources said Srinagar recorded 123 cases, highest among all districts, Baramulla reported 32, Pulwama26, Kulgam16, Shopian 8, Anantnag 13, Budgam 24, Kupwara 28, Bandipora    48, Ganderbal 27, Jammu 61,  Rajouri 3, Ramban 1, Kathua 9, Udhampur 23, Samba 11, Doda 3, Poonch 1 and Reasi 16.

In Kashmir, Srinagar tops the list with 5822 cases followed by Baramulla with 2073, Pulwama 1769, Kulgam 1593, Shopian 1508, Anantnag 1498, Kupwara 1209, Budgam 1462, Bandipora 962, and Ganderbal 630.

In Jammu division, Jammu district has 1473 cases, Rajouri 754, Ramban 576, Kathua 574, Udhampur 618, Samba 478, Doda 302, Poonch 253, Reasi 214 and Kishtwar 159.

“Moreover, 510 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 142 from Jammu Division and 368 from Kashmir Division,” the officials said.
