Srinagar: A day after Ladakh observed a complete shutdown against declaring its “educated/unemployed” youth “non-eligible” for the recently-advertised bank jobs, J&K Bank’s Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) R K Chhibber on Saturday said the bank shall soon initiate a recruitment drive for filling the posts of Probationary Officer (PO) and Banking Associate (BA) in Leh and Kargil.
Talking to Kashmir Observer, Chhibber said the announcement in this regard will be made soon.
“After the regulatory clearance, the recurrent drive will be announced for the aspirants of Ladakh,” Chhibber said.
Notably, the candidates from Ladakh were left out in recent recruitment drive in J&K Bank.
“Those candidates from Ladakh who have already applied for the posts advertised in 2018 need not to apply again,” the CMD added.
On Friday, life got crippled in Ladakh, which was cut from the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir last summer, after the region observed a complete shutdown against the “non-eligibility” of its educated youth in the bank jobs.
The shutdown was observed nearly a year after the abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of the Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories—Jammu Kashmir, and Ladakh.
Shutdown was against the “non-eligibility” of Ladakhi youth in Jammu and Kashmir Bank Recruitment for Probationary Officer, Banking Associates and delaying the result of District Service Selection Recruitment Board Kargil.
The shutdown call was given by All India Kargil Ladakh Students Union (AIKLSU) and supported by various religious organizations, political parties, Trade and Transport Unions.
