J&K Covid-19 Tally Crosses 8,000-Mark As 170 More Test Positive

Srinagar: The total number of Covid-19 cases crossed 8,000-mark in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday as 170 more people tested positive for the disease, officials said.

“170 new Covid-19 cases were detected in J&K. While 128 of them are from Kashmir, 42 are from Jammu,” the officials said.

Among fresh cases, 41 cases were reported from Srinagar followed by 24 each from Kupwara, 21 each from Anantnag & Baramulla, 13 from Jammu, 10 from Kathua, eigt from Ganderbal, six from Samba, five each from Budgam & Kulgam, three each from Ramban, Doda & Rajouri, two each from Bandipora, Kishtwar & Udhampur and one from Shopian, they said.

According to officials, 101 more patients recovered and were discharged from different hospitals.

The cases detected on Friday included 57 people who had returned to J&K recently.

The number of confirmed cases has now reached 8,019 out of which 6,327 are in Kashmir, while 1,692 are in Jammu, the officials said.

There are 2,825 active cases of the coronavirus disease in J&K — 2,401 in Kashmir and 424 in Jammu — and 5,075 (3,821 from Kashmir and 1,254 from Jammu) patients have recovered, according to officials.

The J&K has witnessed 119 Covid-19 deaths (105 from Kashmir, 14 from Jammu) so far.
