Summer skin care

Summer is all about wearing summer outfits, enjoying fresh juices and exciting outings but the sun rays and heat can damage the skin. Summer skin care is more than just using a sunscreen while going out in the sun. The skin needs special attention as sun rays have harsh effects on all skin types. The sun can become rough and dull during this weather.

Here are a few tips to keep the skin hydrated and healthy during summer.

  1. Mix 1 cup of strained cucumber juice, ¼ cup of coconut milk and ¼ cup of Aloevera juice in a lidded container and refrigerate it. Use cotton to apply this lotion on the sun-exposed skin twice daily. The vitamins in cucumber help retain skin moisture. Coconut milk is rich in vitamins C and E .Aloe Vera possesses anti-inflammatory property.
  2. Mix 1 tablespoon each of Aloevera juice and honey. Apply the mixture on the face and sun-exposed skin. Leave it on for 15 -20 minutes and rinse, Aloe Vera possesses anti-inflammatory property and also gives a cooling effect to the sun-exposed skin. Honey is a humectant that helps retain the skins moisture.
  3. Take ¼ cup of mashed raw mango; add 3-4 drops of essential oil (e.g. olive oil), 2 tablespoon of coconut oil, and ½ cup of sugar.Mix into a thick consistency. Apply this scrub on the hands, legs, back and face in circular motion and leave it for 20 -25 minutes. Mangoes are rich source of vitamin A and BETA carotene that helps restore, rejuvenate and revive the skin. Coconut oil is a moisturizer and sugar is an exfoliant.
