Srinagar- A total of 105 people including 16 pregnant women and a nursing assistant tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, taking the number of cases in J&K to 2,446, officials said.
“105 new COVID-19 cases were detected in J&K. While 90 of them are from Kashmir, 15 are from Jammu,” the officials said.
The new cases include 16 pregnant women — 10 from Baramulla district — and a nursing assistant from the Chest Diseases hospital in Srinagar, they said.
An Indian Administrative Service officer has also tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), following which several bureaucrats and doctors, who attended a meeting with him on Saturday, have gone into self-quarantine, they added.
Among fresh cases, 24 were reported from Anantnag, 17 from Kulgam, 15 from Baramulla, 11 from Budgam, 10 from Kupwara, eight from Srinagar, six from Jammu, three each from Kathua & Rajouri, two each from Shopian & Ramban and one from Samba, the officials said.
They added that 34 persons who tested positive are travellers.
The number of confirmed cases has now reached 2,446, out of which 1,943 are in Kashmir, while 503 are in Jammu, they said.
There are 1,491 active cases of the coronavirus disease in J&K — 1,111 in Kashmir and 380 in Jammu — and 927 (807 from Kashmir and 120 from Jammu) patients have recovered, the officials added.
The J&K has witnessed 28 COVID-19 (25 from Kashmir, 3 from Jammu) deaths so far.
With fresh cases, Anantnag has 338 followed by Kulgam (294 ), Srinagar (280), Kupwara (268), Baramulla (232), Bandipora (146), Shopian (170), Jammu (136), Budgam (110), Kathua (73), Pulwama (73),Udhampur (65), Ramban (91), Samba (43), Poonch (38), Ganderbal (32), Rajouri (30), Reasi (14), Kishtwar (8) and Doda (5).
Meanwhile, the government said till date 172844 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 38572 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 45 in Hospital Quarantine, 1491 in hospital isolation and 46419 home surveillance. Besides, 86289 persons have completed their surveillance period
