Srinagar: Two more contacts of a deceased covid-19 man from north Kashmir’s Bandipora were among five more people, who tested positive to the dreaded disease on Tuesday, taking the count of infected people across the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory to 278.

However, on Monday Kashmir Observer had reported about the three cases from Srinagar, two from Chattabal and one Zoonimar.
On Tuesday, Valley recorded just three new cases, lowest in the recent days, while two fresh cases were reported from Jammu, reports said.
Gund Jehangir and Naidkhai area of Bandipora district recorded two fresh cases of Covid-19. One among them is a 27-year-old woman and another and a 35-year-old man. Both of them are said to have come into contact with the deceased Covid-19 man from Bandipora. They are currently being treated at the SKIMS here.
A man in his early forties, hailing from Shangus area of Anantnag district has also tested positive to coronavirus at the Chest Disease hospital here. He is said to have contracted disease after coming into contact with a Covid-19 patient.
Two people also tested positive to the dreaded disease in Jammu, including a doctor, reports said.
The fresh five cases have taken the officially confirmed tally in Jammu and Kashmir to 278. While 228 have been reported from Valley, fifty others have surfaced in Jammu.
Meanwhile, the media bulletin issued by the government today said that out of 278 positive cases, 244 are active, 30 have recovered and 4 have died. The bulletin said that till date 55498 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been put under surveillance, including 7760 persons in home quarantine, 365 in hospital quarantine, 244 in hospital isolation and 30952 under home surveillance.
“Besides, 16173 persons have completed their 28-day surveillance period. Out of 4619 test reports available, 4341 samples have tested as negative till April 14, 2020,” the bulletin adds.
13 Patients Discharged After Recovery
Thirteen persons, who had tested positive for COVID-19 were discharged from Srinagar Hospital on Tuesday, after they recovered from the infection following treatment, said an official.
“More Positive Developments: 13 more COVID +Ve patients discharged from CD (Chest Diseases) Hospital Srinagar after treatment/recovery. Good Job everyone,” Government spokesman Rohit Kansal said in a tweet.
Leading pulmonologist of Kashmir Dr Naveed Shah, who is heading the COVID team at Chest Disease Hospital, said while it was a satisfying moment, there should be no lowering of the guard.
“A satisfactory moment… relieved 13 covid patients for home quarantine… not to lower our guard….stay home .. stay safe.. maintain social distance..obey advisories. Together v can overcome all challenges,” he tweeted.
Two minor sisters, who had contracted the infection from their grandfather, were released for home quarantine in Monday.
