Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir police have tasked its cyber wing to identify social media users trying to incite people over the newly introduced domicile law, reports said Friday.

According to an IANS report, IGP Kashmir, Vijay Kumar has said that certain elements were trying to incite people on the new domicile law and many ‘anti-social elements’ were using various social networking platforms to instigate people.

According to the report, IGP said that the police has decided to arrest such people and the task to identify them has been assigned to the cyber wing.

On Wednesday, Modi-led government at the Centre introduced new domicile law for J&K under which anyone who has resided for 15 years in Jammu and Kashmir or has studied for seven years and appeared in Class 10 and Class 12 examinations in an educational institution located in the Union Territory is a domicile.

According to the new law, no person shall be eligible for appointment to a post in a pay scale of not more than Level-4 (Rs 25500) unless he is a domicile of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Level 4 includes the post of junior assistant and constable, which is considered as the lowest category of non-gazetted posts reserved for Jammu and Kashmir domiciles.
