Handwash, Sanitizer Manufacturing Unit Sealed

Sopore: The Drug Control Department seized an industrial unit on Tuesday in Sopore for illegal manufacture of handwash and sanitizers, as the valley faces acute shortage of such products.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of drug department officials raided the Industrial unit “U Safe” in Sopore area where hadwash and sanitizers under the tag name of ‘Activa Saffy” were being manufactured without having a proper license for such an activity, news agency GNS reported today.

A huge quantity of raw materials used to produce handwash and sanitizers were also seized during the raid, reports added.

Meanwhile, Assistant drug inspector Baramulla Bashir Ahmad said a case has been registered against the unit holder on charges of violating the Drugs & Cosmetics Act & Rules. The officer said further investigation into the matter was underway.
