Srinagar: Over 200 people on Wednesday were discharged from different hotels and government buildings in this capital city after completion of mandatory two-week quarantine.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration discharged today a batch of another 236 people, who were put under quarantine on their arrival from several parts of the country and abroad last month, reports said. All the people hailing from different parts of the Valley were sent home in the government run buses after successfully completing their 14-day quarantine period, an official spokesperson said.
“Srinagar residents in the group were all ferried home or entrusted to their families,” he said.
The spokesperson said that the group was under thorough medical supervision throughout their quarantine period and were discharged after clearance from doctors.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar M Haneef Balkhi, who has been designated as overall in-charge of quarantine facilities, oversaw their discharge and their transportation, the spokesperson said.
“Another group of around 370 persons will complete their quarantine and will be released tomorrow. All the foreign returned persons in the district will complete their quarantine period by the end of this week and will be sent home,” he added.
The spokesperson said that around 1900 persons were put under quarantine in Srinagar after their return, mostly from overseas countries.
