Srinagar: As many as 78 people, who arrived in Srinagar from Ladakh Union Territory last month, were discharged by the district authorities after their mandatory quarantine period ended on Tuesday.

“Seventy-eight persons who were shifted into administrative quarantine upon their return to Srinagar two weeks ago were discharged today after successfully completing their 14-day quarantine period,” an official spokesperson said today.

All the 78, the spokesperson said, were the first batch to return to Valley and undergo administrative quarantine in hotels and government accommodations in the district. The group members, hailing from many parts of the Valley were provided transportation facilities by the administration.

“Their discharge and transportation was carried out under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar M Haneef Balkhi, who has been designated as overall in-charge of quarantine facilities,” the spokesperson said.

He said that the group was discharged today after clearance from the doctors.

The spokesperson further said that around 1900 persons have been put under administrative quarantine in Srinagar after their return, mostly from overseas countries.

“Another group of over 220 persons will complete their quarantine and be released tomorrow. All the foreign return persons under quarantine will be sent home as they complete their quarantine period by the end of this week,” the spokesperson added.
