Covid-19 Tightens Grip On Valley, 7 More Test Positive In Srinagar

Srinagar: The Valley, especially this capital city seems to be slipping into coronavirus crisis as seven more people on Saturday tested posted to the deadly infection, taking the toll of affected to 21 today, besides one fatality.

“Tough to be harbinger of unpleasant news. But being informed is being prepared. 7 more positive cases in Srinagar today. 4 cases- history of contact with already positive cases of religious congregation; other three- travel history outside J&K contacts being traced,” government spokesperson Rohit Kansal Tweeted.

With fresh seven cases reported today, the total number of positive COVID-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir has now gone up to 27 including the person who died on Thursday.

Among the infected people are four youth from north Kashmir’s Hajin, who came into contact with the elderly man, who died of Covid-19 on Thursday, reports said. A couple from Ahmad Nagar locality of the city outskirts also tested positive to Covid-19, a day after they were admitted to the Chest Disease hospital here in this capital city.

The couple had recently returned to Kashmir from Mumbai.

The seventh person a 65-year-old man from Jawahar Nagar has a travel history to Indonesia.

“All the infected are being treated upon by the doctors at the CD hospital here. Their reports were received today” officials said.
