Srinagar- Two major trade bodies of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday endorsed government announced shutdown and urged people to stay indoors in an attempt to prevent spread of coronavirus pandemic.
President Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) Sheikh Ashiq in a statement issued here said that the conglomerate has taken a pledged to support the administration to eradicate this virus from J&K.
“But government needs to take some steps immediately for ensuring smooth lockdown. They need to ensure that ample foodstuff, baby food, medicines are available in the localities and people shouldn’t strive for it,” Ashiq said.
He also demanded immediate restoration of 4G internet services so that people would get updated information and advisories regarding this pandemic
He said government should provide free ration at doorsteps to the people under BPL categories. He also demanded extension of dates for filing legal compliances and other statuary reports by at least a quarter or till situation gets normal.
“We also request all the essential item shops and stores not to indulge in black marketing by escalating prices,” he said.
He urged people to observe complete civil curfew till April 1 2020 to stop spread of coronavirus in in J&K.
Meanwhile, Kashmir Traders & Manufacturers Federation today urged the people to follow lockdown and said that social distancing was the ‘key to break chain of Covid-19 transmission’.
In a statement issued here, KTMF acting President Manzoor Ahmad Bhat said the authorities of J&K should scale up response to treat, detect and reduce transmission to save people’s lives.
He said although administration here in Srinagar was doing a commendable job by restricting people at their respective homes, but procurement of life support ventilators should also be done on urgent basis as there is a dire shortage of it in our hospitals
