SRINAGAR – One more person on Wednesday tested negative for deadly coronavirus disease in Valley, even as 1211 people have been put under surveillance by the authorities in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Test reports of 35 persons are awaited across the union territory of J&K where 968 persons are in “home quarantine”, 12 in “hospital quarantine” and 81 in “home surveillance.” officials told news agency GNS today.
“64 samples have been sent for testing, 28 have come negative and one tested positive (sexagenarian woman from Jammu who had returned from Iran recently),” officials said.
They said 150 persons have completed their 28 days surveillance period. A senior doctor at SKIMS said that one test report was received on Wednesday and he has tested negative.
So far over a hundred countries have been affected by coronavirus and there are 121517 confirmed cases, 4,383 deaths with majority of them in China, Italy, South Korea and Iran.
“UT of J&K has strengthened the Surveillance and Control measures against the disease. Helpline nos: +91-0191-2549676 (UT level Cell for J&K), +91-0191-2520982 (For Jammu Division), +91-0194-2440283 (For Kashmir Division) are functional,” officials said. Corona- Virus lab testing facilities have been started in Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura, Srinagar and Govt. Medical College Jammu, they said.
Control rooms and surveillance teams have been constituted across all the districts of the UT to meet any sort of eventuality, they said. “Universal self-declaration has been made mandatory from 4th of March at Jammu and Srinagar airports,” they said, adding, “Screening of travellers has been started at Lakhanpur and Lower Munda toll posts as well as Jammu, Katra and Udhampur Railway stations, where Health Help Desks have also been setup.”
