SRINAGAR – After he was expelled from the party, Rajya Sabha member Nazir Ahmad Laway on Saturday termed the move a conspiracy against those who made Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) popular at grass root level. Laway claimed he was ‘Mufti PDP’ and nobody can afford to remove him from the party.
Reacting to his removal from the PDP for anti party activities, including on participating in Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu’s swearing-in ceremony, Laway
said, “It seems a planned conspiracy against those PDP leaders who have sacrificed a lot in making party strong at grass root level”.
He further added, “I was invited as a guest in the swearing-in ceremony of LG Murmu. Nobody has communicated me from the party in this regard and I have not received any formal show cause notice. Without tendering official communiqué, how PDP can expel me”, news agency KNS quoted him as saying.
It is pertinent to mention that Laway was expelled by PDP a day after he attended the swearing-in ceremony of Lieutenant Governor G C Murmu. PPD sources said “Laway’s participation was in contravention to the party’s stand regarding the current political situation and the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status under Article 370 of the constitution.
