Civilian Killed, 7 Others Injured In Pak Shelling In Kupwara

SRINAGAR – One civilian was killed and seven others were injured in cross-border shelling at the Line of Control (LoC) in Machil sector in the north Kashmir’s Kupwara on Wednesday.

Official sources said that Pakistani troops fired mortar shells and resorted to indiscriminate firing, targeting forward Army posts and civilian areas in Machil sector. “Majority shells fell in the civilian areas,” they said, adding a person was killed and about seven others were injured.

They said several residential houses were also damaged in the shelling. “Indian troops retaliated and hit Pak army posts,” they said, adding the exact damage suffered by pak troops was not immediately clear. (With Agency Inputs )
