Share

SRINAGAR — Taking note of a media report, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan Friday ordered the demolition of an illegal structure in Anantnag besides action against a top official.

According to a media report, a two-room structure had been constructed by some people within the Sumo Stand outside the Anantnag Sports Stadium at Mehandi Kadal.

Municipal Committee Chairman Anantnag Hilal Ahmad Shah had said that no person has been granted permission for the construction and it would be demolished “very soon.”

“We have already written to police to provide security so as to demolish the structure,” he said, adding “we have identified 12 persons who have carried out the violation and action as per law will be taken against them.”

Khan told a news agency said that he had taken note of the report and would ensure that the demolition of the structure is carried out by this evening.

He said he will order action against Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Municipal Body Anantnag for having “slept over the issue and allowed the illegal construction.”

In a letter to the CEO, Manager Sports Stadium Anantnag  had sought immediate action against “some so-called bearers of Sumo Stand Union by constructing an office for their personal activities on the land which legally belongs to the J&K Sports Council.”

“Revenue papers thereof are annexed. In this regard, your kind self is requested for immediate and appropriate action may please be expedited at an earliest without any delay,” the letter reads.
