SRINAGAR Police on Tuesday claimed to have solved several theft cases in the city by arresting three persons and recovering stolen valuables worth lakhs of rupees.
A police spokesman said a case under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Karan Nagar after Irfan Ahmad Ganie son of Abdul Qayoom Ganie resident of Yari Kalan Chadoora reported that an individual had tried to steal his Maruti-800 car at Karan Nagar.
During the course of investigation, one suspected person was taken into custody and on his disclosure a Maruti Car bearing registration number JK13A/9192 and a bike (Royal Enfield) bearing registration number DL11SD/0998 was recovered, the spokesman said.
During further course of investigation, the spokesman said, another Maruti car bearing registration number JK01G/2088, a motorcycle (Pulsar) bearing registration number JK01N/2673, two master keys and wooden scale were recovered.
Officers investigating the case also recovered golden ornaments including two chains, one jumka, seven rings and one gold pound.
The spokesman further said that two people were arrested after Police Station Khanyar received a complaint from Raja Bano wife of Abdul Ahad Mir resident of Naidkadal wherein she stated that a theft had occurred at her house.
On this information a case FIR No. 09/19 under relevant sections of law was registered and investigation was set into motion. During the course of investigation, two accused persons identified as Faisal Ahmad Sheikh son of Gh Rasool and Adil Ahmad Bhat son of Ali Mohammad resident of Naid Kadal Khanyar were taken into custody. On questioning, they revealed their involvement in the crime and on their disclosure stolen property was recovered, the spokesman said.
Drug peddler arrested
A man was arrested for peddling drugs here, police said Tuesday.
One person arrested during checkpoint at Sathi Crossing for the drug offences has been taken to Police Station Rajbagh where he remains in custody. Officers at the checkpoint have seized 25 bottles of codeine phosphate bottles from his possession, a police spokesman said.
Case FIR No 25/2019 under relevant sections has been registered in Police Station Rajbagh and investigation has been taken up, the spokesman said, adding community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighborhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
