No Friendly Contest With NC: Cong

SRINAGAR — Congress party on Wednesday rejected any friendly ties with National Conference in the upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir, saying that both the parties are going before the people individually.

The state Congress president, G A Mir told media persons here that National Conference and Congress didn’t enter into bonhomie for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections but are contesting it individually.

“There was no seat sharing as the parties are fighting elections separately. We are fielding our candidates like NC is, therefore how can you say that there is friendly contest,” he said, adding that they didn’t announce its candidate for Jammu constituencies and “we also didn’t in Srinagar constituency.”

Mir told reporters that Congress will go before people with its agenda while NC will seek votes on their agenda. Furthermore, Mir said that “Rahul Gandhi has announced the minimum wage scheme for whole of India, promising 6000 Rs per month that amounts to Rs 72000 per year. We will prove it and act as we have proven.”

Addressing a function organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Mir described the party as the only political organisation which has served the people of the country and would continue to do so to the best of its ability.

“The Congress party will continue to remain committed to the cause of serving the people,” he said.

“Congress is the only party which is capable of defeating the communal and fascist forces and will continue to fight against those forces who want to divide the country and people for the sake of coming to power,” he added.
