Greta Thunberg caught the attention of the world last year when she skipped school to sit in front of the Swedish Parliament demanding that the government do something about climate change and asking adults to stop sh*tting on her future. A year later, Greta, a climate change activist, finds herself in the list of people nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, for her constant efforts to spread awareness on climate change.
If she wins, Greta would become the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Malala Yousafzai received the prize when she was 17 years old. However, winning awards isn’t the end of Greta’s journey, it is to see a greener planet that is fit to live in.
Norwegian parliamentary representatives, who nominated the Swedish teen’s name, said that climate change is one of the most important causes of war and conflict and Greta’s actions have set the wheels of change that will lead to peace.
Greta has called students from around the world to participate in a global school strike on March 15. Thousands of students in Australia and New Zealand have walked out of class to take part in the strike against government inaction on climate change.
