20 Year Old Thrashed, Asked To Pick Up Gun

SRINAGAR — A twenty year old youth from south Kashmir’s Pulwama district was ruthlessly beaten by irate army personnel in his native village Monday evening. They also allegedly asked him to pick up arms if he can.

Identified as Tawseef Ahmad, son of Ghulam Ahmad of village Achgoaza was beaten ruthlessly at the camp of 44 RR in Shadimarg Pulwama by group of soldiers led by a Major, local news agencies reported.

Tawseef was set free in an injured condition and is now admitted at Srinagar’s SMHS hospital.

 “They (Army men) directed me to pick up arms within days”, he said.

Meanwhile police admitted that the youth was beaten by army men saying investigation in this regard is going on.

A senior police officer said the allegations against the Army men were quite shocking but the investigation has been started into the matter to see veracity of allegations. “Anyone found involved will be dealt according to law”, he said, adding that the issue is under investigation and further details will be shared after investigation.

Meanwhile, despite repeated attempts army spokesperson could not be contacted for comments.
