SRINAGAR In his 13th visit to the state as the Prime Minister and first since imposition of President’s rule in the state on December 19 last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modis arrives in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.
The PM Modi is scheduled reach Leh directly from New Delhi and lay foundation stone of Ladakh University, recently approved by the state administrative council headed by governor Satya Pal Malik. Besides he will lay foundation stone for extension of Airport in Leh, sources said.
He will also address a gathering at Leh during foundation stone laying ceremony of the first ever University and extension of Leh Airport.
The prime minister will also digitally launch various projects under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA).
He will unveil plaques via video-conference to lay foundation stones of 54 new model degree colleges, 11 professional colleges and one women’s university in the country.

He will also inaugurate 16 model degree colleges, and 66 entrepreneurship, innovation and career hubs in the country.
Besides, he will lay the foundation stones of three model degree colleges in Kishtwar, Kupwara and Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir.
Modi will declare 100-per cent electrification of households in Jammu and Kashmir under the central government’s Saubhagya Scheme.
Modi will lay the foundation stone of 624-MW Kiru hydroelectric project in Kishtwar. It is a run-of-the-river project across the Chenab.
He will also inaugurate the 9-MW Dah hydroelectric project. Located in Dah near village Datang, this project is a run-of-the-river scheme. Modi will dedicate to the nation the 220-KV Srinagar-Alusteng-Drass-

The project has augmented the grid connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir.
prime minister will lay the foundation stone of 1,640-metre span double-lane bridge over the Chenab river in Sajwal.
The project will provide an alternative route for the population of Sajwal and Indri Pattian. With the completion of this bridge, the distance between Sajwal and Indri Pattian will be reduced to 5 km from 47 km earlier, the statement said.
Modi will also lay foundation stone of AIIMS at Vijaypur in Jammu and address a rally there which, J&K BJP state president Ravinder Raina claims, will be attended by about two lakh people.
In 2015, AIIMS was first sanctioned for the Kashmir region. It evoked strong reaction in Jammu against BJP and even its office was ransacked by protesters after which a separate AIIMS for Jammu was sanctioned.
Later in the afternoon, Modi will proceed to Srinagar and address Sarpanchs and Panchs at SKICC Srinagar. Modi is also scheduled to visit Armys 15-Corps headquarters at Badamibagh cantonment and visit Dal Lake.
Former chief minister and National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah said his party doesn’t have much expectations as no political initiative was taken to bring about peace in the Valley and the visit is a politically motivated trip aimed only at the upcoming elections. PDP Chief Mehbooba Mehbooba who had once said only Modi could resolve the Kashmir issue now says he (Modi) couldnt rise to the occasion and lost the mandate for resolving the issue.
