SRINAGAR In a second killing of its kind in last couple of days, suspected militants on Saturday killed a youth in Shopian district, hours after kidnapping him from Saidapora area in south Kashmir district.
A police officer said that the militants kidnapped Huzaif Ashraf (19) alias Raja Kandur son of Mohammad Ashraf of Manzgam Kulgam on Saturday morning.
Huzaifs throat-slit body was recovered from an orchard in Landoora village in Harmain Shopian on Saturday afternoon, he said.
After completion of medico-legal formalities, police handed over body of Huzaif to his family for conducting last rites.
A case under relevant sections of law has been registered in the concerned Police Station and investigation has been initiated in the matter, the officer said.
During the day, two other kidnapped youthShahid Ahmad Ganie and Farooq Ahmad, also residents of Saidpora Payeen, were released by the abductors. Reports said that both Shahid and Farooq arrived their respective houses safely.
The killing comes nearly two days after a bullet-riddled body of a youth Nadeem Manzoor was recovered at Nikloora village of Pulwama district.
Manzoor was abducted by the militants from his native village of Safanagri Shopian on Thursday evening and his body recovered around 12 in the midnight.
Militants Make Abortive Bid To Attack BJP Leaders House
The security personnel guarding the house of Bhartiya Janata Party leader foiled an attempt from militants to barge into the house in South Kashmirs Shopian district, a local news agency CNS said.
Quoting sources, it said that a group of militants tried to barge into the residence of BJP district president Javaid Qadri, however, the security guards guarding the house of Qadri fired couple of rounds in air to foil the militants bid.
Qadri according to sources was not present in the house at the time of incident.
A police official said that they are investigating the matter.
