KULGAM A resident of Kulgam at whose house seven people were killed recently is missing for the last 20 days after he was abducted by unidentified gunmen.
Shiraz Ahmed, owner of the house where an encounter between militants and government forces had taken place on October 21 last month at Laroo village of South Kashmirs Kulgam district, was abducted by unknown gunmen and is still untraceable even after 20 days.
Police though have already lodged an abduction case, but remains clueless. But, according to the family of abducted man, their every effort to trace the family head has miserably failed.
The militants were present inside the house of Shiraz Ahmed when Government forces cordoned it off and during the gun battle that lasted for several hours, three militants were killed. After the gun battle clashes and a mysterious explosion also claimed the lives of at least seven civilians. A couple of days after the incident, unknown armed men appeared in Laru village and abducted Shiraz Ahmed, the house owner. According to villagers, the armed men arrived in the village in a vehicle and bundled Shiraz into it. Shortly, after the incident, forces had arrived on the spot but they didnt find anything during the search operation.
Shiraz’s parents have made an appeal to the abductors to release him. His wife Nusrat Banoo said that militants are claiming that Shiraz is not with them. We fail to understand who abducted him and what is his fault. A man was sent by militants who told us that militants have not abducted him, she said.
A police official told news agency CNS that they have already filed a case while a special team has been constituted to trace the abducted man.
