JAMMU Former New Delhi and Goa Chief Secretary K K Sharma was on Monday appointed as his fourth advisor by Governor Satya pal Malik.
The governor of J&K is pleased to appoint K K sharma IAS (Retd) as advisor to the governor with effect from the date he assumes charge, reads an order issued here by the government. Terms and conditions of his appointment shall be notified separately, the order adds.
Sources said that he likely to be allotted Education and Agriculture besides other departments.
K K Sharma, a 1983 batch AGMUT-cadre IAS, held various posts including the post of secretary PWD during 2009 and was then promoted as principal secretary PWD. He remained in the post till April 2011. From 2011 to 2014, he served as advisor to the administrator of Chandigarh in an additional secretary-rank position. After that, he came to union ministry of child and women development on central deputation and joined as chief secretary of Goa on January 1, 2015. Sharma was later posted as top bureaucrat of New Delhi.
Currently, the Governor has three advisers BB Vyas, K Vijay Kumar and Khurshid Ganai.
The state had come under the Governors rule on June 20, a day after the BJP withdrew support to the PDP-led Mehbooba Mufti government.
The then Governor, NN Vohra, had appointed BB Vyas, who till then was the Chief Secretary of the state, K Vijay Kumar, who has been the Special Secretary, Home, and Khurshid Ganai, who was holding the post of the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC), before his current assignment. Ganai had resigned from the CICs post a day before his appointment was announced by the Governors administration. Malik has retained all three advisers appointed by his predecessor. Sources said as the Governor anticipated more work in view of the elections and felt the need to monitor things at the grass-roots level, he needed more hands to assist him in enhancing the outreach of the administration.
