SRINAGAR — The Master Plan for Srinagar shall be prepared by the end of this month and placed before the State Administrative Council, Advocate D. C. Raina, submitted before Jammu and Kashmir High Court. Hearing a Public Interest Litigation, a division bench Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Alok Aradhe after submissions by Advocate General ordered listing of the PIL on November 25.

The court was hearing a Public Interest Litigation filed by advocate Mujeeb Andrabi in 2013, seeking among other directions to clear Srinagar city of illegal constructions.

The Government then constituted a high power committee of experts to go into the issue of illegal constructions and suggest remedial measures. In the draft policy, the panel recommended only those illegal constructions that have come up before March 5, 2014 will be considered for one time settlement by way of imposing hefty penalty while as no unauthorized construction having come up after March 5, 2014 will be regularized. the government issued moratorium and it was ended later.
