South Kashmir: Injured SPO,Cop Quit Police Publically 

SRINAGAR — A policeman and an SPO, who was shot at by militants earlier this week, announced resignation from police department in public on Friday.

Reports said that while the police constable identified as Hamid Farooz made the announcement himself before a congregation at Jamia Masjid Kareemabad in Pulwama, the injured SPO Bilal Ahmad had sent a letter of resignation and it was read before the same congregation.

Hamid Feroze of Kareemabad was recently promoted as constable from SPO. Bilal also a resident of Kareemabad was shot at and injured by militants at his residence and since then he is recuperating for injuries in leg at a hospital in Srinagar.

Last month militants killed three policemen in Shopian district of south Kashmir, leading to resignation by number of SPOs, at least publicly even as ministry of home affairs, New Delhi, rejected such reports as propaganda.
