Shia Muslims Inseparable Part of Kashmir Movement: Masroor

Share

SRINAGAR —  Imam Hussain and his companions stood for justice, fairplay and freedom thus making it incumbent upon those claiming to be his followers to tread this path. This was stated by prominent Shia leader Maulana Masroor Abbas Ansari Thursday while reiterating that Shia Muslims of Kashmir were inseparable part of Kashmir’s ‘freedom movement’.

“Mourning processions are demonstration of peoples resolve to carry forward the message of Karbala and that message is to stand for the oppressed and stand upto the oppression”, Masroor said while addressing mourners at Alamgari Bazar Chowk on Thursday.

He denounced police action against peaceful mourners on 8th day of Muharram and condemned filing of FIR’s against those who raised slogans for Azadi and carried portraits of slain militant commander Burhan Wani in the processions.

“Shia Muslims are inseparable part of Kashmir’s freedom struggle and no power on earth can shake our resolve”, Masroor who is also senior leader of moderate Hurriyat Conference said.

Meanwhile  JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik also joined a Muharram procession in Basant Bagh area of the city and cautioned people against ‘enemy plots’ to sow discord among Muslims of Kashmir.

Malik said Imam Hussain and his family strived for a righteous cause and sacrificed their lives for it in barren land of Karbala.

He said that Hussain (RA) represents resilience, courage and steadfastness and identifies with the oppressed not the oppressors.

“Imam became a martyr but wrote a glorious page of Islamic history that will always remain a source of inspiration for all those who stand against tyranny and oppression.”

JKLF chairman said that the struggle in Kashmir is also the struggle of the oppressed and hence a continuation of Karbala.

“Oppressive forces are operating with impunity in Kashmir and killing, maiming, caging and humiliating humans shamelessly and main objective of these forces is to suppress freedom of humans, pin down their democratic voices and even ban mourning ceremonies,” he said.
