SRINAGAR Multiple Muharram processions were taken out across Srinagar marking Tasua (9th day of Muharram).
Thousands of mourners participated in processions taken out from Shamswari to Habba Kadal, Mandibal to Nabdipora, Basant Bagh, Kachikani and Mir Bahri, Dal.

Biggest procession was taken out from Mandibal, Nowshehra after noon prayers and it culminated at Astana Syed Hassan Nabdipora in the evening.
Maulana Masroor Abbas Ansari addressed a large gathering of mourners at Alamgari Bazar.
He denounced what he termed as ‘unwarranted’ curbs of mourning processions and use of force against peaceful mourners on 8th Muharram by the police.
Another major procession was taken out from Shamswari-Khanqah-e-Maula in the morning and it culminated at Babapur. Here also Maulana Masroor addressed the mourners.
In Basantbagh the procession was led by JKLF leader Muhammad Yasin Malik along with Agha Syed Abid of Anjuman-e-Sharie Shiayan and Shia and Sunni activists.

JKLF chairman Yasin Malik in his address said Imam Hussain and his family strived for a righteous cause and sacrificed their lives for it in barren land of Karbala.
He said that Hussain (RA) represents resilience, courage and steadfastness and identifies with the oppressed not the oppressors.
“Imam became a martyr but wrote a glorious page of Islamic history that will always remain a source of inspiration for all those who stand against tyranny and oppression. JKLF chairman said that the struggle in Kashmir is also the struggle of the oppressed and hence a continuation of Karbala.”
At Kani Kachi, the members of Shia Sunni Coordination Committee participated in the procession.
