SRINAGAR The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for complete shutdown on Monday, against turning Kashmir especially south Kashmir into what it termed as a battlefield and against civilian and militant killings.
The leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik in a statement issued here also asked people to offer funeral prayers in absentia on Sunday, after Zuhar prayers.
The leaders also paid rich tributes to slain militants of Kulgam Qazigund and extended sympathies to dozens of people critically injured by forces firing.
These young martyrs are sacrificing their present for our best future, JRL said.
The leadership expressed regret over the stubbornness of India and its military arrogance which it termed as the main stumbling block in the way of peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute.
Much blood has flown in the rivers of Kashmir, it needs a human heart to end the bloodshed and allow the subjugated people of Kashmir to decide their own fate according to their free will, JRL said.
Meanwhile, JRL expressed grave concern over the use of military arrogance by the Special Operation Group (SOG) of police to summon political leaders and activists to their respective camps.
The JRL termed the SOG action as a mark of tyranny and barbarism to suppress the voice of a popular movement for the right to self-determination.
The leadership made a fervent appeal to the UN and its Human Rights Commission and all other recognized human rights organizations to take serious cognizance of a dangerous threat to the life of pro-resistance activists, because persistent denial of political and civil rights to the people of Kashmir has made their lives vulnerable at the hands of SOG and other military agencies of India.
