Stage Set For Kargil, Zanskar Tourism Festival

DDC reviews arrangements

KARGIL — The Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, LAHDC, Kargil, Vikas Kundal reviewed the arrangements of made by the Tourism Department and various departments of district administration for conduct of Kagil, Zanskar Tourism festival.

The DC along with a team of Committee Members constituted with regard to festival also inspected Auditorium Hall and took stock of the arrangements.

He was informed that the suitable accommodation has been made available for the participants and the venues of the festivals have also been maintained properly besides mass pre-event publicity has been ensured to draw a large number of people and tourists to the various events of the festival.

The DC directed the concerned to work with utmost dedication and in tandem. He also asked them to ensure the full proof arrangements for the successful conduct of the event.

All arrangements have been put in place for the conduct of the Kargil Ladakh Tourism Festivals 2018 at Kargil on 4th and 5th September and on 8th and 9th September at Padum Zanskar.

The main attractions of the functions are Horse Polo Matches, Archery Match, Cultural programmes, Archery Exhibition Matches and Thanka Exhibition and Horse Race.

The aim of these festivals is to sell the unique and varied tourism festival of Ladakh region at National and International level. Ladakh is known for its cultural ethos, folk heritage, traditional sports and the pilgrimage sites and is a preferred destination for foreigners. The components shall form the part of the tourism festival at Kargil and Zanskar for showcasing. The ethnic food display, theatre show, exhibition and adventure activities shall be the other attractions of the festivals.

The festivals are expected to be attended by a large number of locals as well as domestic and international tourists.
