SRINAGAR Kids studying at the privately owned Radiant Public School at Nagbal had to face the elements on Friday when the authorities decided to retain them for extra three hours on the pretext of conducting a quiz program. The authorities were reportedly unmoved to the plight of little kids who had fainted for want of food as most of them had gone to the school on an empty stomach.
When you send your ward to school at 7.00 AMin the morning on an empty stomach and the school authorities force them to stay three hours extra in the school on the pretext of a quiz program, you can very well imagine their condition, said a parent who wished not to be named.
We spent over two hours on bus stop in scorching heat, waiting for our children to return from the school, Abid Nazir Fazli narrated his ordeal. I found my 3rd class girl student lying unconscious in the school bus.
Fazli called up the school authorities. When I called the Principal RP School, he said children were sent to home a couple of hours late due to a quiz program, he said. It is the responsibility of the school to inform us. It was a half-day and we had not given lunch boxes to our children.
Fazili said the school not only put the lives little kids at risk but also caused inconvenience to scores of parents by not informing them in advance.
How can they be so irresponsible, Fazili. The school authorities will send you text message four days in advance when it comes to submission of fee but they dont bother to care about other things, he said. My hungry child came to her senses in the hospital after doctors administered her some medicine. The doctors in their report said that the child fainted due to hunger and humidity. We parents suffered just because of the callous attitude and carelessness of the school authorities, Fazli added.
Principal RP School, Muzaffar Ahmed Bhat said that they could not inform the parents in time as their website is out of order declining that no student fainted in the school.
An official of the rank of Deputy Director School said they will act against the school if the parents lodge a formal complaint against the school authorities.
