Disabled Threaten To Go On Fast Unto Death

Share

SRINAGAR — Jammu Kashmir Handicapped Association Friday said that it will do for hunger strike till death if the government will not pass Disability Act of 2016 till August 15 this month.

The Association said that they will organize a protest rally on August 20 and from 31 Augustonwards will go for hunger strike till death.

President Handicapped Association Abdul Rashid Bhat said that physically challenged people in the state are still waiting for action from Governor Administration. “Our sufferings will mitigate if Disability Act is passed. From past thirty years, physically disabled people are facing humiliation and nobody from the administration is willing to give heed to their repeated pleas,” he said.

He alleged that successive governments in Jammu and Kashmir didn’t show any will to address their problems.

“We appeal in one voice to State Governor NN Vohra to pass orders for implementation of this Act so that the dejected disabled people’s long-term demands could be fulfilled.”
