Govt Orders Employees To Attend I-Day Function

SRINAGAR — The state government on Friday ordered its employees to attend main Independence Day function in Srinagar and Jammu as part of their official duty.

“Independence Day is an important national event celebrated on 15th August each year. It is duty of every government servant to attend the function which commemorate on important turning point in the history of our Nation,” a government order said. “All the officers and officials of the State Government stationed at Srinagar/Jammu are therefore enjoined upon to attend the main function of the Independence Day Celebration at the Sher-i- Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Sonawar, Srinagar and Parade Ground,Jammu respectively, as a part of their official duty. Any absence will be with prior permission of their immediate superior.”

All the Administrative Secretaries, Heads of the Departments, Managing Directors/chief Executives of the Public Sector Undertakings are “requested” to ensure that all officers/officials working under their administrative control, and stationed at Srinagar/Jammu, attend the function at their respective places, it said.

Further, it said, the Managing Director, J&K SRTC Limited and the Managing Director, J&K Tourism Development Corporation Limited shall ensure that the buses/canter vehicles of their Corporations deployed for transportation of the employees of moving departments at Srinagar report at their allotted Government Colonies/Hotels/Security Zones etc at 7.30 a.m. on August 15 and facilitate to-and-fro movement of the employees for attending the Independence Day function at Sher-i- Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Sonawar, Srinagar. Previously also, the government asked employees to be present but there has been no response by the majority, especially in Kashmir Valley.
