SRINAGAR MGNREGA Contractual Employees continue to protest across Jammu and Kashmir from past couple of weeks. They demand absorption in the Rural Development Department and has extended their protest till July 23.
We have been staging peaceful protest in 22 districts of the state. This time we are hopeful that there will be positive outcome. From July 23 we will intensify our protest if Government fails to keep its promise, said the spokesperson MGNREGA Contractual Employees Association.
He said that a committee under Commissioner Secretary had been constituted that pitched for the changes in recruitment quota. Those recommendations clearly indicate that there is a job absorption proposal for us. But the callous attitude of the government have been forcing us to protest on daily basis, he said.
He alleged that government wants a temporary resolution to our problems but we want Government to find a permanent solution and get all the contractual employees absorbed in the department. We deserve all benefits that permanent employees reap under service rules, he said and urged upon Governor Administration to look into the matter.
