SRINAGAR The deputy commissioner has ordered that in view of heavy rush of Amarnath yatries via Baltal side, no tourist, either local or outsider, will be allowed to go to Sonamarg till the end of the yatra.
It may be recalled that the world famous tourist resort, Pahalgam, has already been declared out of bounds for local as well as outside visitors.
Even as it happens to be the peak season for tourists, the government thought it prudent to ban their visit to the two premier tourist destinations.
As if that were not enough, the government last week banned even school children to go on an excursion to Pahalgam. It is for the past couple of years that the government has been restricting the visit of local people and domestic and foreign
Meanwhile, the Minister for tourism, S.Salathia today visited the cave shrine of Amarnath by a helicopter and personally supervised the arrangements for the pilgrims.
The Minister interacted with the yatries who posed some problems being faced by them. The Minister assured full cooperation and said arrangements will be made to overcome these.
