QAZIGUND In a shocking incident that indicates the level of corruption at FCI Baramulla, a driver was allowed to return to Jammu with truck load of rice, but thanks to Enforcement Wing of Commercial Taxes Department that seized the vehicle near Qazigund and handed over the driver to police for further investigation.
A police official told news agency CNS that during questioning, the driver claimed that employees at Food Corporation India, Baramulla took his challan and other required documents but asked him to return to Jammu at a desired destination and unload the rice there. We are investigating the matter and trying to find out why the rice was not unloaded at FCI Baramulla, said the police official.
FCI Baramulla has always been in news for wrong reasons. There are complaints that employees there only take challans from drivers and send them back to outside state with the loaded rice. Where that rice go is a billion dollar question? Its a big mafia controlled by big fish.
In October 2016, five trucks with loaded rice coming from Punjab were also send back from FCI Baramulla to outside state without unloading them.
SSP Kulgam Harmeet Singh while confirming that a truck (JK02AQ-2557) with 313 rice bags has been seized said that investigation is going on and more arrests are expected.
Station House Officer Qazigund, Tanvir Ahmed said that they will lodge a formal FIR once getting nod from Enforcement Wing of Commercial Taxes Department. (CNS)
