1971 Hijacking Case: Hashim Qureshi Appears In City Court

SRINAGAR — Jammu Kashmir Democratic Liberation Party (JKDLP) chairman Hashim Qureshi who is accused in Ganga Hijacking case of 1971 appeared before Special Session Court Srinagar on Tuesday.

He was presented in the court of law of CID and CIK wings of Jammu Kashmir Police.

The Counsel for Hashim Qureshi argued before the court that his client can’t be perused again under double jeopardy, the party said.

According to the DLP, the next hearing for the case has been listed on August 4.

Party said that the senior Advocate, presented references of international law regarding the double jeopardy and argued that his client can’t be perused again under double jeopardy.

DLP further said that Hashim Qureshi has already been sentenced by Pakistan Supreme Court and he has spent many years in the jail after which he was set free. “The judgment papers of Pakistan Supreme Court have already been submitted before the court here.”

The court while restoring the bail of Hashim Qureshi directed him to be present before the court of law during the next hearing.
