Court Rejects Bail Plea Of Two Brothers Accused Of Killing Rashid Billa

BANDIPORE — A local court has rejected the bail plea from two brothers arrested in the killing of notorious government supported gunman Rashid Billa.

In April last year, notorious pro-government gunman Rashid Billa was shot dead by suspected militants inside his home in Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Police had accordingly lodged an FIR vide number 22/2017 under section 302, 120-B/RPC, 7/27 Arms Act and 15, 16 and 18 Unlawful Activities of Prevention Act. Police later on arrested two brothers Muhammad Arif Parray and Parvaiz Ahmed Parray, both residents of Para Mohalla Hajin.

The accused had moved bail application through their Counsel Shuaib Deewani. Howver, the court of Principal Sessions Judge Bandipora dismissed these applications on the ground that 180 days of extended period of detention has not been completed yet and thus the accused can’t invoke the provision of Section 43 of Unlawful Activities of Prevention Act.
