Labayk Allahuma Labayk: 1st Batch Off For Hajj

SRINAGAR — The first batch of 820 pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir left for Saudi Arabia on Saturday to perform this year’s Haj pilgrimage.

Special buses from the Srinagar Haj House in Bemina area took the pilgrims to the Srinagar International airport early on Saturday.

Governor N.N. Vohra flagged off the first flight of 340 Hajis for Madinah Munawarrah which left from the Srinagar International Airport on Saturday morning.  

Governor interacted with a number of Hajis and wished them a safe journey and a highly satisfying Haj.

 This year 10,292 Hajis (including 518 Hajis who will embark from New Delhi) will be proceeding for Haj. They will travel in daily flights during 14th July – 25th July, embarking from the Srinagar International Airport.

The First flight of 340 included 179 Male and 161 Female Hajis; of whom 203 Hajis were from District Anantnag; 6 from Bandipora; 26 from Baramulla; 20 from Budgam; 6 from Ganderbal; 4 from Kulgam; 6 from Kupwara; 16 from Pulwama; 52 from Srinagar and 1 from Shopian.

After an additional quota of 250 seats was allowed to the state by the All India Haj Committee, over 10,000 pilgrims from the state were able to perform this year’s pilgrimage.

The first flight carrying the pilgrims will return here on August 25 and the last on September 7.
