Youth Drowns Rescuing Dog In Srinagar

SRINAGAR — A teenaged boy drowned in a flood channel while trying to save a dog from drowning in Bemina area of Srinagar on Saturday.

Reports said the youth, identified as Asif Ahmad of Nagrota Jammu, was washed away by flowing waters in the flood channel when he jumped into it to save a struggling dog who had fallen in it.

Ahmad, according to reports, was putting up in a makeshift tent along with his family at nearby Tengpora, Bypass.

Rescuers located the body after several hours of search from a distance.
